Welcome to the IBC-VIAC CDRC Vienna 2019 Expert Application!

Thank you for your interest in being part of our mission and to so many of you for supporting us with your expertise in prior years. We are again looking for experienced international professionals with a strong background in mediation or negotiation who are keen to volunteer to take part in our competition from 6-10 July 2019 as our “Expert Assessors”.

For the 2019 competition, we will recruit a diverse international team of around 60 professionals to help us score the students’ performance and help them excel and improve throughout the competition by providing them with valuable individualized feedback after each mediation session. The Expert Assessor team will consist of in-house counsel, mediators, lawyers, mediation trainers, negotiation trainers, academics and government representatives from 5 continents.

As an Expert Assessor, you will have the chance to work closely with about 150 students from around the world that have been carefully and individually selected based on their qualifications as well as their skills in oral advocacy, presentation, persuasion and creativity. You will be invited to our many social and evening events and will have the chance to take part in all competition sessions, events, trainings and panels. Please note however that we cannot compensate for your expenses to participate in our event.

We take a lot of care and personal commitment in selecting our Expert Assessors as they have proven to be the heart of the competition and enjoy to become caring advisors and mentors for our students, often way beyond the competition. Experts are selected based on their availability throughout the event, evaluation from prior years, international mediation and negotiation experience, mediation qualification and accreditation, training experience and experience in giving feedback and assessing students (in no particular order) at the full discretion of the organizers.

Experts must be available for mandatory introduction session in the morning of 7 July and for all preliminary rounds on 7 July noon to 9 July noon).

The application is open from 1 December 2018 to 15 March 2019. Please apply early since successful applications will be notified on a rolling basis and slots may fill up early.
